Too Big To Fail
Too Big to Fail! engages historical and contemporary practices of using objects - especially large objects - to participate in politics. The project is grounded in two intertwined events during the presidency of Thomas Jefferson. The first of these, is the presentation of a Mammoth Cheese to the newly elected President. The project attempts to retrace the steps taken by the residents of Cheshire, MA who made a giant cheese to advocate for freedom of religion. The project attempts to retrace the steps taken by the cheese makers – building a custom cheese press, acquiring milk from local producers, making the cheese, and presenting it in the political realm.
